The sporting spirit of Garda Trentino

The strong sporting identity of Garda Trentino, Ledro Valley, Comano, Valle dei Laghi and Val di Gresta is something we know well and have nurtured for many years. The growth of numerous outdoor disciplines and a calendar packed with internationally recognised events are clear evidence of this commitment.

From water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and SUP to climbing, hiking, mountain biking, road cycling and fishing, as well as via ferrata, canyoning and trail running, we work every day to provide ideal conditions for sports enthusiasts of all levels.

The Outdoor Friendly project was created for accommodation providers in Garda Trentino that choose to specialise in welcoming active travellers. Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen the destination’s outdoor identity by recognising and promoting businesses that invest in dedicated services, expertise and facilities for guests seeking an active holiday.

To become part of the product club, accommodation providers are required to comply with a set of standards that define specific services and requirements for this target group. These are practical features that add real value and often play a decisive role in a guest’s choice of accommodation.

The standards, which we have developed based on the most common needs of active travellers, are regularly monitored by our team through on-site visits to ensure consistency, quality and reliability across the offering.

Free printed materials specifically designed to promote sports activities. Outdoor Friendly accommodation providers receive these materials directly at their premises.
Visibility in the outdoor section of gardatrentino.it.
Promotional activities exclusively for Outdoor Friendly accommodation providers (digital marketing campaigns and offline activities).
Involvement in PR and influencer marketing activities specifically targeting sports enthusiasts.
Access to Garda Trentino Academy sessions specifically designed for the product club.
Option to provide guests with Pro access to Outdooractive.
Hiking or MTB map display board.

Mandatory requirements for accommodation providers

The basic mandatory requirements set out in the guidelines are:

Themed information materials available at the accommodation.
A multilingual contact person with a good knowledge of the local outdoor offering, able to assist guests and provide appropriate information on services (courses, guided tours) and routes.
An accessible, well-equipped sports equipment storage area with a small workshop.
Facilities for washing and drying technical clothing.
Buffet breakfast with a vitamin corner: fresh fruit, dried fruit and nuts, juices/energy drinks, yoghurt, muesli, etc.
The option for guests to prepare their own sandwiches (with takeaway containers provided) or request a packed lunch.
Services may be free of charge or subject to a fee, at the discretion of each accommodation provider.

Participants also agree to:

Display the Outdoor Friendly product club logo on their website homepage, with an active link to the outdoor section of gardatrentino.it.
Create an outdoor section on their website with specific information about Garda Trentino’s sports offering, for example using our route widget.
Attend dedicated Garda Trentino Academy sessions.

Further specialisation for Outdoor Friendly accommodation providers = greater visibility

In addition, accommodation providers that have joined the Outdoor project and chosen to become part of the Outdoor Friendly product club can further specialise in one or more of the three outdoor categories identified by the Tourism Board: bike, climbing/trekking and water sports (including fishing).

This makes the accommodation provider’s online listing and related communication campaigns even more effective.

To obtain this specialisation, the accommodation provider must:

have active agreements with Outdoor Specialists (guides, rental providers and shops) that enable guests to enjoy their preferred sport;
provide specific information materials in addition to the brochures produced by the Tourism Board;
have an expert on site with in-depth knowledge of the area’s outdoor offering.

As with the general guidelines, our staff will check that these requirements are met through on-site visits during the year.

Outdoor Specialists (service providers)

A whole world of outdoor services.

The Outdoor Specialist project is aimed at all local businesses and professionals specialising in sports and outdoor activities: sports equipment rental providers, shops, shuttle services, certified guides, centres, schools and adventure parks.

The aim of the project is to connect the key players in the sports offering, making the outdoor identity of Garda Trentino, Ledro and Comano even more visible and promoting the businesses and services that enable guests to enjoy outdoor sports to the full, with expert support and high-quality services.

Services available to participating businesses:

Visibility in the relevant outdoor section (or sections) of gardatrentino.it.
Inclusion in the relevant brochure (or brochures) with contact details only. The brochures are produced in three languages and distributed throughout the area and at trade fairs and events in Italy and abroad.
Visibility on GuestNet, a multi-channel communication platform managed by the Tourism Board and available at info points and accommodation providers.
Option to activate GuestNet at your business (infoscreen and print modes).
Free printed materials specifically designed to promote sports activities (starter kit: 2 copies of each type, plus 1 hiking map and 1 bike map. Further supplies of up to 30 copies can then be requested as needed, choosing from the 7 available types).
Involvement in PR and influencer marketing activities specifically targeting sports enthusiasts.
