Stay Young

The strategic positioning guiding the future of our destination

A shared vision for a future identity

A successful destination does not happen by chance: it requires a shared identity, integrated planning and a clear governance system in which public and private stakeholders collaborate in a structured way.

With this awareness in mind, starting in August 2020 we launched a participatory process involving trade associations, political representatives and the main stakeholders of the territory.

Supporting us throughout this journey was the Institute of Brand Logic – a spin-off of the University of Innsbruck and an internationally experienced consulting company – which helped us define a new strategic positioning for Garda Trentino.

A TERRITORIAL STRATEGY

The path that led us to identify our positioning developed through several stages:

Brand Reality Study, including:
➔ Collection of qualitative and quantitative data (August–September 2020);
➔ Mystery guesting activities;
➔ Surveys involving operators and guests, with more than 1,700 responses and interviews with over 20 local stakeholders.

Followed by:
➔ Definition of the future identity through 3 thematic workshops involving more than 200 participants;
➔ Discussions with municipalities and trade associations to define governance and the masterplan (2021);
➔ Official presentation of the positioning during the first edition of Garda Tourism Factory.

  •
AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING

Three concepts guided our work throughout the process:

Quality, both in the tourism experience and in everyday life for those who live in the territory;
Involvement, engaging all local stakeholders through shared planning;
Sustainability, understood in a broad sense: environmental, economic and social
.

THEMATIC PILLARS

The pillars we identified, each contributing uniquely to our positioning, are:

Keep Moving, referring to the wide range of outdoor activities in Garda Trentino, available all year round and suitable for different skill levels;
Eat Healthy, highlighting the healthy products of our territory that contribute to a healthy lifestyle, such as olive oil;
Be Curious, referring to the cultural and historical stimuli offered by our towns and surroundings;
Learn to Relax, emphasising the importance of slowing down and relaxing.

A COMMON VISION FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF GARDA TRENTINO

The goal: STAY YOUNG

Dialogue with the territory revealed a clear vision: establishing Garda Trentino as a model for those seeking an active, healthy and stimulating lifestyle that keeps people feeling young all year round. An ambition summed up in two simple but powerful words: Stay Young.

Today, this positioning guides all our actions and marks an important shift: from tourism promotion to the integrated management of the destination.

MASTERPLAN and GOVERNANCE

For a positioning strategy to be effective, it cannot remain merely a declaration of intent: it must be translated into concrete actions, with clearly defined roles, functions and responsibilities.

For this reason, in 2021 — once again with the active involvement of the territory — we developed two fundamental tools:
➔ a participatory governance model, with thematic working groups coordinated by the Garda Trentino Tourism Conference, designed to encourage dialogue and guide development in a shared way;
➔ an operational masterplan, including more than 110 concrete actions, each with clear objectives, defined timelines and dedicated resources.

The summary of this process was publicly presented during the first edition of Garda Tourism Factory.

A good positioning strategy is not a slogan: it is a strategic compass that guides the development of the destination, ensuring consistency between identity, objectives and concrete actions.

AN INTEGRATION BETWEEN TERRITORIES

In 2022, with the creation of APT Garda Dolomiti and the extension to the territories of Valle di Ledro, Comano and Valle dei Laghi, we launched a new integration process, once again supported by the Institute of Brand Logic.

We chose to use Stay Young as a common platform to which each area could connect while enhancing its own unique characteristics.

This approach enabled the development of shared projects and an integrated destination development model.

THE RESULTS

The process involved a total of one hundred operators who reflected on and discussed the tourism future — and beyond — of their respective territories, through joint and independent workshops as well as exploratory “safaris” across each area.

Always using the concept of Stay Young as a reference point, the promises identified for the different sub-areas are:

➔ “The regenerative power of thermal spas and the rural landscape” for Comano;
➔ “The valley of lost worlds” for Valle di Ledro;
➔ “Villages and castles mirrored on the water where wine becomes holy” for Valle dei Laghi.

DOCUMENTS PRODUCED

For these areas as well, we defined governance models, dedicated masterplans and a shared masterplan for cross-territorial projects.

A FUNDAMENTAL TOPIC

Our commitment to sustainability

Sustainability — understood in its broadest sense, not only environmental but also economic, social and cultural — has been one of the core pillars of the Stay Young positioning from the very beginning.

Over the last few years, many of our projects have moved in this direction. It therefore felt natural for us to adhere to the guidelines of the GSTC certification promoted by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.

In addition to involving more than 20 accommodation facilities in the area in their individual certification processes, we committed ourselves to developing a participatory process similar to the one carried out with the Institute of Brand Logic, which led us to obtain the GSTC Destination Certification in June 2025.
